Bucharest, June 25, 2019: Năvodari Chemical Fertilizer Company, the only Romanian technology-based fertilizer manufacturer in Romania, has invested almost 150,000 euros in electric vehicles for the transport of employees, giving up conventional fuel-based vehicles. The company has recently purchased four utility vehicles that will ensure the transportation of employees to and from the localities bordering the Năvodari plant, as well as an electric vehicle charging station, to ensure full autonomy of its corporate transport service.
“Reducing the amount of carbon emissions to protect the environment has been a constant concern of our company investor ever since we started out business in the Romanian market. In 20 years of activity, our investments in cutting down polluting emissions and protecting the environment have accounted for over 2.5 million euros. The reason why we have decided to replace our old vehicles with clean vehicles is not only because the replacement is in line with our corporate green policy, but because we know that this will be the constant trend in the future. If the national infrastructure allowed it and if there were enough electric car charging stations around the country, we would be happy to replace all our car fleet with electric cars”, said Cezara Vișan, executive director of the Năvodari fertilizer plant.
The 100% eco-friendly vehicles of the company run for 250 km without charging and have been purchased from Renault Romania. The electric charging station installed on our company’s premises allows the simultaneous charging of two vehicles. To purchase the clean vehicles, the company has also accessed the funding facilities provided by the Romanian government. “We’ve benefited from the old car scrapping eco-labels, in the amount of RON 45,000 per vehicle”, explains the executive director of the company.
Reopened 20 years ago as a private investment, the Năvodari Chemical Fertilizer Company is currently the only Romanian technology-based fertilizer manufacturer in Romania. The company complies with all environmental protection regulations and its investments from own sources in environment protection have accounted for almost one third of its total investments since 2003.
CICh Năvodari ended the financial year 2018 with a turnover of RON 106M and estimates a growth of at least 5% in its business in 2019.
